Vang Vieng is now more and more famous place for eco-tourism, and adventure. This tour is designed to make it most unforgettable experience for you. Go for a ‘real’ trek, descend steep mountain slopes using steel cables to safely hold you, rise to the challenge of a dare-devil ‘abseiling’ in a 50 m waterfall, more than 120 m long zip-lining and cross the mind-blowing ‘via ferrata’! This adventurous climb will ultimately reward you with incredible views from the top of the limestone mountain.
NOTES: This tour follows quite a tough gradient. You need to be in good physical condition!
ASIA FOCUS TRAVEL would like to introduce the detail of tour program:
Day 1: Vientiane Arrival (no meal)
On arrival at the airport, you will be met and transferred to check in the hotel. The rest of the day is your own time at leisure.
Overnight in Vientiane
Optional: After a soft rest at the hotel, if time permit, we can visit Wat Si Muang, which is very famous for its supernatural power. At the pagoda, we can ask the monk to bless you with health and happiness by tying your wrist with a string. This is the famous tradition of Laos
Day 2: Vientiane-Vang Vieng (homestay) (meals incl: B/ D)
Vientiane is a charming and fascinating capital, with an interesting mix of Lao, Thai, Chinese, Vietnamese, French, and American influences. Today, we start visiting the major sights of the capital; including Wat Sisaket, the oldest temple with thousands of miniature Buddha statues, and the former royal temple of Wat Prakeo, which previously housed the famous Emerald Buddha Image. Enroute to Lao’s national icon, the precious and sacred structure of That Luang Stupa, you will have the opportunity to take some pictures of the imposing Patuxay Monument, which is known as Vientiane’s own Arc de Triumph.
In the afternoon, we leave the capital early for our journey northbound to Vang Vieng; we will see some breathtaking scenery enroute as we pass through spectacular countryside towards the mountainous region. We reach our final destination Vang Vieng, which is nestled on a bend of the Nam Song River. Its stunning scenery with limestone outcrops remains unspoiled, despite recent developments with the advent of tourism.
Upon arrival we will transfer to the local village where we will spend the night and the dinner with a local family.
Day 3: Vang Vieng- Zinlining (Camping) (meals incl: B/ L/ D)
In the morning, our guide will pick you up and take a short drive via Pakpo village boat pier where we cross the Nam Song River, either by boat or a sling bridge. We then embark on a trek that leads us through rice fields.
Depending on the season and corresponding water levels, we may have to cross some small streams with the help of ropes to navigate the rapids. As we reach the first mountain range we make some steep ascends. We hike further into the valley until the terrain gets steeper and steeper again. We may have to cross some streams, but secured by a belay if rainfalls were heavy the days before.
Now is the moment to start ou zip-lining adventures! However, the real challenge of today starts at the bottom of the waterfall on a so-called ‘via ferrata’ and a crossing a gorge via a U-shaped cable bridge.
Once on top the views of the wonderful limestone scenery reconcile our senses and let us forget any hardship.
A welcome rest will refill our energy we need for the next leg of our tour. Our next destination is a 50 m waterfall thundering down high up on the mountain face.
Once having overcome these obstacles, we set up our small camp especially prepared for a overnight stay. To spend your night you can either sleep under the stars on the wooden platform offering a stunning view or in a small bamboo hut which offers three little rooms.
Get ready for a relaxing evening, enjoying the great views and the refreshing cool water of the fall, with good chats and a nice dinner until a rejuvenating sleep overpowers us.
Day 4: Vang Vieng (meals incl: B/ L)
Do not miss the sunrise that welcomes you with new day rising upon the limestone mountains!
After a hearty breakfast we begin the day with zip lining! Secured by top-class belay devices you will head from platform to platform, some of them up to 50 m above the ground anchored in the crown of a mighty tree. These cables run through the jungle passing through the towering trees and waterfalls.
Then take the challenge to master a V-shaped cable bridge crossing another gorge. It looks easy but is it? For sure it’s a lot of fun! Continue zip-lining adventures almoust all way down the mountain. Finally walk back through the rice fields on the same way we arrived the day before until the waiting transportation brings us back to Vang Vieng. Along the way we take a great picnic lunch Lao style.
The two-day challenge that most of us will never forget comes to an end, exhausted and tired – an achievement extraordinaire.
We will spend the last night in Vang Vieng at a hotel
Day 5: Vang Vieng- Vientaine (meals incl: B)
In the morning, we will first stroll around the town to visit the local market to catch a gimpse of everyday life in a typical Lao rural area.
We then visit Organic Farm Vang Vieng (OFVV), promoting the use of natural materials & traditional methods for growing its crops & raising its animals, without using chemicals or artificial fertilizers, which are harmful to both our health & the environment.
In the afternoon, we bid farewell to Vang Vieng and drive to Vientiane. Along the way we make a stop to visit Vang Xang, a famous archeological site dating back 11th century.
We arrive in Vientiane mid-afternoon, transfer to your hotel. Free for the rest of the day. Overnight in Vientiane
